“That’s all I do. Except for walking my dog and helping my wife keep our lives on track, every day I’m standing at my easel. Oh, and I do get in a round of golf now and then!”*Freedom of Expression by Jim Bates.

About Jim Bates

Some paintings tell a story, others capture a fleeting glance to let the observer experience a personal emotional moment. The planned and frequently accidental experience of mixing Jim Bateswater with pigment is spiritual. “I am inspired by the moment. My paintings using only three primary colors are rich and bold colorful evocative images derived through many translucent layers of watercolor glazes. “His eight Galleries depict topics he tends to favor: Music, from hot jazz to classical piano; Animals, and the portraits of beloved pets and wild deer and horses; Landscapes where he’s stood taking in nature’s wonders in the US and Europe; Sports for a whimsical look at fishing, golf, poker and conversation; Still Life that captivates through shapes and colors; and “Heroes” he admires. Uniquely Fallbrook is a hometown favorite.
