Spring Brings Lively Celebrations to Hotel del Coronado

As the weather warms up, visitors to Hotel del Coronado’s many dining spots can enjoy all that Spring has to offer: fresh delicacies from the sea, straight-from-the-garden Spring dishes, casual outdoor beachfront dining and tasty new sunset-inspired cocktails. The new season also brings a series of lively special events including the resort’s SEA+FOOD one-day festival and a colorful, three-day Cinco de Mayo bash.

-SEA+FOOD on June 7 on the Windsor Lawn from 2 to 5 p.m.
This full of fun, retro rhythm and blues music and delicious local seafood, BBQ and beverages event will be a one-day Pacific coast food festival to remember. Craft beers, wines and spirits start the afternoon featuring celebrity bartender Manny Hinojosa, and a portion of the proceeds will go to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation to benefit childhood cancer. Delectable Lil’ Del BBQ, smoked oysters, raw bar with sashimi and a clam bake station will tempt as guests relax to the sounds of The Whitney Shay/Robin Henkel Extravaganza! Their music blend ranges from the raw 1920’s blues of Robert Johnson and Bessie Smith to the high-energy rhythm and blues popularized in the 50s and 60s by Etta James and Little Richard. -April is Spring Harvest Month at 1500 OCEAN, and Sunset Bar Gets a New Menu
Each week in April, the culinary team at 1500 OCEAN will offer an additional Harvest menu highlighting coastal California cuisine and featuring the very best and ripest in-prime produce from its own herb and vegetable garden, as well as from local growers and purveyors the restaurant shares close ties with. Some seasonal menu highlights will include snap peas, cucumbers, Valencia oranges, avocados, early summer squash and more. The cost for the Harvest four-course prix fixe menu is $75 per person; $125 with wine pairing. The regular dinner menu will be available. At 1500 OCEAN’s Sunset Bar, as guests gaze at the Pacific and sip a Blackberry Margarita or Lavender Lemonade made with Absolut vodka, they will enjoy a new menu featuring snacks such as Yellowtail Sashimi with avocado mousse, tangerine, radish and chili basil; Deviled Eggs with California osetra caviar; Baja Shrimp Cocktail with roasted pineapple mojo; and Burrata Bruschetta with coppa, hazelnut pesto and black truffle gastrique. There are a select list of wines by the glass and craft brews. The Sunset Bar opens at 4 p.m. nightly for cocktails and 5:30 for food service Tuesday through Saturday.

-April Ode to the Succulent Maine Lobster at Sheerwater
Savor the versatile lusciousness of Maine lobster meat in various classic and imaginatively inventive contemporary presentations of this favored crustacean during the month of April at Sheerwater, the all-day, casual eatery with its relaxing patio. Appetizers include a refreshing Chilled Lobster Salad with mango, avocado, heirloom cherry tomatoes, hearts of palm, baby kale and tarragon grapefruit vinaigrette; Lobster Ravioli with ricotta cheese and spinach; and Lobster Risotto with arugula and braised endive. For a star ingredient Entree: 1½ pound Maine Lobster either Butter-poached and served with crushed fingerling potatoes and baby fennel or Broiled and accompanied by asparagus risotto, $55 for either dish. Steak lovers can add a slow-roasted club cut eight-ounce New York steak to the whole lobster course with a $10 supplemental charge. Two-pound and larger lobsters are available, priced per pound. -Sun Deck Bar & Grill Converted to Full-Service Restaurant Starting Saturday, April 19
The resort’s much-loved outdoor beachfront eatery, Sun Deck Bar & Grill, will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. as it becomes a full-service restaurant continuing to serve casual fare favorites including Del White Cheddar Burger; Basil Chicken Sandwich; Coastal Caesar Salad; Smoked House BBQ Chopped Salad; and thirst-quenching beverages throughout the day. The bar is open daily from 11:30 a.m. until sunset.

-Cinco de Mayo Three-Day Blast at Sun Deck Bar & Grill from May 3 to 5,11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for Grill; 11:30 a.m. to sunset for Bar
During Cinco de Mayo weekend, Sun Deck Bar & Grill will bring Mexico to Coronado filled with street tacos, Don Julio tequila specials, margaritas made tableside, Mexican craft beers, Mexican pop music and continuous “arriba” energy.

-Sunday Brunch in the Crown Room Salutes San Diego Culinary Craftsman Month in June
The award-winning Sunday Brunch spectacular buffet will be enhanced by showcasing exceptional products from purveyors such as Bread & Cie, Sadie Rose Baking Co., Temecula Olive Oil Company and many other local artisans during San Diego Culinary Craftsman Month this June.
