Now’s the time to take care of yourself and your health, so we’re sharing our recipe for GOLDEN MILK, known as Turmeric Milk to some. Turmeric is widely used in India and is regarded as a superfood that can fight cancer, ease depression, fight viral infections, lower cholesterol, ease arthritis pain, and more.
Makes 2 cups
1 tsp fresh turmeric – peeled and grated
1 tsp fresh ginger – peeled and grated
¼ tsp fennel seeds
1-inch cinnamon stick
4 ea black peppercorns
1 cup of water
1 cup milk (*preferably whole milk, although can be substituted with almond, soy or coconut milk)
2 tsp honey (or as desired)
1 tsp ghee (optional)
In a small saucepan, dry roast the fennel seeds and cinnamon over low heat until fragrant. (approx. 2 minutes)
Add in ghee, if using.
Stir in grated turmeric and ginger.
Add in water and bring to a simmer over low heat.
Follow with milk and bring to a boil again. Simmer over low heat for about 2 – 3 minutes.
Strain out the spices, sweeten with honey.
Serve hot or iced. ENJOY
