Tequila is a very distinct tasting liquor. All tequila is made from the blue agave plant found near the city of Tequila in the state of Jalisco, Mexico. Some consider tequila to be one of the truest forms of alcohol. Tequila is an alcoholic beverage that is made from produced in Mexico, although some tequila is shipped in bulk to be bottled in the US. Jimadores, the harvesters of the agave plant, trim pinas from the ground at their peak ripeness to be baked, mashed, and then put in stills to ferment and become tequila. Reposado, Añejo, and Extra Añejo varieties of tequila refer to the amount of time the tequila has been aged prior to consumption.

Since all of these factors come into play, each tequila producer comes up with a tequila that taste slightly different from another’s. This leaves the drinker with many varying options to consider when trying to choose which tequila is the right one for them. Should they go with a tequila blanco like the varieties produced by 1921, Milagros, Avion, and El Espolon? Or maybe a more traditional tequila like Patron, Cazadores, Herrudura or Hornitos?

This list is to help determine which tequila is the best tasting out there through votes from the Ranker users. Vote up your favorite and vote down the ones that just miss the mark. And if it’s tequila’s tasty cousin whiskey you crave, check out the list of the best whiskey brands.
