Chef Brian Malarkey and the Puffer Malarkey Collective has opened Herb & Ranch at the UCI Research Park Campus, a casual, multi-dining concept that serves breakfast and lunch from five stations. Herb & Ranch looks like a traditional food hall but operates like a fast-casual concept where diners order from the station of their choice and pay at a center register. Herb & Ranch provides the neighboring Irvine office parks with a wide-variety of options and a constantly changing menu, helping them avoid menu fatigue as their work week unfolds.
Herb & Ranch offers inviting indoor-outdoor dining featuring an open-air patio with casual workspaces, meeting and event options and complimentary WiFi. Blending a contemporary farmhouse design with light and breezy Southern California vibe, Herb & Ranch features mindfully sourced ingredients in a variety of stations. During breakfast hours, guests can order a multitude of items from The Grill Breakfast and Coffee Bar, including California or Veggie Burritos, Ricotta Toast with honey, blackberries, tarragon and smoked almonds.
Lunch options include The Farmhouse station with grilled meats, seafood and roasted vegetables; The Press, an Italian-onspired sandwich station serving cold or pressed options like Ham & Jam with prosciutto cotto, fig jam, gruyere cheese. There’s also a poke station dubbed Mahalo which offers rotating poke bowls including Miso with edamame, sunflower sprouts & seeds, ginger, cherry tomatoes and shiso. The fifth station is the Greens and Grains station which serves salad bowls such as the vegan-friendly Roasted and Raw with carrot, fennel, pickled golden raisins, cashew, sesame seeds and tahini sherry vinaigrette.
