Wine and More Series
An Evening with Trey Fletcher, Winemaker for Solomon Hills and Bien Nacido Wineries
Wednesday, May 23 at 6:00, $49.95* per person

The Miller Family, owners of Bien Nacido, Solomon Hills and French Camp Vineyards, as well as the Central Coast and Paso Robles Wine Services and Turn Key Wine Brands, has launched two wine brands recently. The Bien Nacido and Solomon Hills brands highlight fruit from their two iconic estate vineyards. Trey Fletcher has been named the winemaker for both brands.

For nearly three decades, Bien Nacido Vineyards has provided fruit for some of America’s most beloved and critically acclaimed wine brands. More recently, with the establishment and development of the Solomon Hills Vineyards, the Miller family has expanded their holdings and has attracted noteworthy winemakers from around the country, eager to work with their fruit.

Prior to joining the Miller family brands, Fletcher worked in the Stag’s Leap AVA of the Napa Valley and in the Mendoza and Cafayate regions of Argentina before landing as Assistant Winemaker at Domaine Alfred. He then accepted a post as Assistant Winemaker at Littorai in Sonoma, where he was until he joined the Miller family on California’s Central Coast.

The Wines

Solomon Hills Chardonnay 2009
Elegant and refined. A delicate aroma of wet stones with a touch of nutmeg entices the palate. The wine follows through with a thick texture that is mineral, tangy/salty, and finishes with an aftertaste of poached pears

Solomon Hills Pinot Noir 2008
The aromas and flavors of violet, currant, plum and black cherry meet with earthy and spicy notes and end with a long finish. Splash decant for maximum enjoyment.

Bien Nacido Pinot Noir 2008
The developing nose has medium plus intensity and shows bright, fresh red fruits like plum, red cherry, cranberry, and strawberry. Additional notes of earth, vanilla and warm spices like cinnamon, clove and nutmeg support the bright fruit

Bien Nacido Syrah 2008
An attractive wine, this youngster is designed for early drinking with its clean, likeable berry fruit and slight candied edge. It is medium-full in body and has a slightly plump, invitingly open feel

Menu

Petite crab cakes with a charred orange coulis accompanied by a micro green salad of poached pears, edible flowers, and olive oil drizzle

Roasted pork tenderloin over fennel hash accented with French vanilla, finished with a currant demi glace and topped with blueberry compote

Colorado Lamb osso bucco with fresh thyme, oregano, and lavender, over purple potato puree and finished by a cherry reduction sauce

Fluffy Saffron sponge cake with a chantilly, cherry ice cream and raspberry anglaise
