Shuck and Swallow Oyster Eating Contest – Parkers’ Lighthouse, Long Beach

Watch restaurant teams display their shucking expertise on Wednesday, July 14, at 5 :00 pm, to see who can open the most oysters in ten minutes along Parkers’ beautiful patio deck overlooking the Long Beach Harbor. As one team member shucks, the other member will swallow as many as possible. No hurling is allowed.
Shucker teams from Parkers’ Lighthouse, Walt’s Wharf, Duke’s, House of Big Fish, Crow Bar & Kitchen, McKenna’s on the Bay, Westside Tavern, Scott’s Seafood, Mastro’s Ocean Club, Bluewater Grill and more. Who will take the title of Oyster Champion?
Live Calypso Music provided by “Nu Pan Groove” will get the teams in the groove to shuck and swallow. Merrill Shindler, host of “Feed Your Face” on KABC Radio, editor of the Los Angeles Zagat Survey, and host of Fine Living: Critics on the Fine Living Network, will be the commentator of the competition.

Free to Watch: The public is invited free of charge to watch the competition and cheer on the participants. Donations for Miller Children’s Hospital are encouraged.

5:00 p.m. Great drink specials and free appetizers
6:00 p.m. Shuck-Off! will take place along Parkers’ beautiful patio deck overlooking the Long Beach Harbor.
7:30 p.m. After Shuck with Shindler Dinner benefitting Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach featuring a hot and cold buffet, sushi, oysters and wine tasting.
