Fans of art and food & wine will have something to look forward to in 2016 as Fairplex, home of the LA County Fair, announces its “Palates & Palettes” line-up. Held each month at the Millard Sheets Art Center on the fairgrounds in Pomona, the events highlight a famous artist from a particular geographic location and guests, guided by an experienced art teacher, either recreate one of his/her famous works or use the art as inspiration.
June’s “Palates & Palettes” on June 11 will feature the work of French painter and sculptor, Henri Matisse. The food will salute Matisse’s native French cuisine. Cost is $75 per person and includes painting supplies as well as the food and wine. Space is limited and reservations may be made by calling 909.865.4161.
As part of The Learning Centers at Fairplex, the Millard Sheets Art Center offers year-round exhibitions, educational programs, events and workshops so that visitors can enjoy meaningful, fun experiences through the visual arts. It works with local schools and community groups to create a unified arts culture and fill the voids left by budget cuts so that access to the arts continues. Building on its rich history, the center is dedicated to continuing its work so that future generations can better appreciate and understand their history and culture through art.
