July Roundtable will focus on the different ways California employers can limit their exposure when conducting layoffs. Topics will include various WARN Act issues for larger employers and larger layoffs/plant closings, the benefits to offering severance pay and having employees sign a severance agreement, and how to select employees for layoffs. For those wanting to avoid layoffs, we will also explore alternatives to reductions in the workforce, such as pay reduction, hour reduction, part-time status, furloughs, and temporary plant shut-downs.
