The menu created by Executive Chef Dennis Brask starts with passed hors d’;oeuvres served with 2008 Demetria Cuvee Papou, a white Rhone blend from Santa Ynez Valley. A second course of a Dry-Pack Scallop and Smoked-Salmon Napoleon will be served with Parsnip Mash with Basil Oil and 2006 Demetria Estate Chardonnay Santa Rita Hills. Roasted Duck Breast with Blackberry and Sage with Mushroom Whole-Grain Bread Pudding will accompany 2007 Demetria Estate Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills. Grilled Lamb Culotte with Chipotle Glaze and an Artisanal Cheddar and Yukon Gold Potato Pancake will be served with 2006 Demetria Estate “North Slope” Syrah Santa Ynez Valley. For dessert, whimsical House-made Maple Dunkin’; Donuts will be served with Vanilla Bean Espresso Cream and Stella Noche Press Pot Coffee.
Established in 2005, Demetria Estate is a family-owned winery. Their goal is to produce wines of distinction and character rivaling those of the world’s greatest estates. Demetria Estate includes two separate portfolios of wines, both capturing the singularity of the vineyards and the region from which they originated. The restaurant has earned the Automobile Club of Southern California Four-Diamond Award, the Mobil Travel Guide Four-Star Award, and the DiRoNA Award, marking it one of the more distinguished restaurants of North America. It has also received the Wine Spectator Grand Award, the Southern California Restaurant Writers’; Gold Award, and the Golden Bacchus Award for its wine list.
Five Crowns is a member of the Lawry’;s family of fine-dining restaurants, which includes Lawry’;s The Prime Rib with locations in Beverly Hills, Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas, Osaka, Tokyo, Singapore, Taipei, Hong Kong, and Shanghai; and the Tam O’;Shanter in Los Angeles. Their quick-casual concept, Lawry’;s Carvery, opened at SouthCoastPlaza in Costa Mesa in 2003. A second Lawry’;s Carvery opened in WestfieldCenturyCity in October 2007, and a third debuted at L.A. LIVE in December 2008. Five Crowns shares its historic building with SideDoor, a gastropub opened in January 2010.
