liveAcclaimed Los Angeles chef and restaurateur, Neal Fraser, is bringing his BEEFSTEAK event from the big city to Alisal Ranch on Thursday, March 24, 2022. This carnivorous carnival will begin with passed hors d’oeuvres and a cocktail and wine reception at 5:30 p.m. After the reception, guests will enjoy a sit-down dinner at 7:00 p.m. with an unforgettable feast. The guest attire is Western Black Tie, combining the rich history of Alisal Ranch and BEEFSTEAK (click here to learn more).

The event will feature live music from Doublewide Kings throughout the night. Respecting the grand history of Beefsteak, the final menu will be a surprise revealed at the event. Even vegetarians will be sated. Lovers of meat will be extremely sated. In traditional Beefsteak style, feasting tables will fit a minimum of ten people. If your party is fewer than 10 people you will be seated with others.

Roots of BEEFSTEAK: In 1939, The New Yorker’s Joseph Mitchell wrote an article called, “All You Can Hold for Five Bucks,” describing a feast of epic proportions known simply as a “Beefsteak.” A rite of gluttony that waged war on the livers of politicians and gangsters alike, the Beefsteak thrived in the saloons and political halls of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The menu was always the same — sliced steak served on toast, au jus or gravy, and all the beer you could drink. Knives, forks, plates and napkins were forbidden. Sadly, the practice died out after World War II, and Fraser is bringing the Beefsteak back.

For years, acclaimed chef and restaurateur Neal Fraser (of Redbird and Vibiana concepts) has been hosting Beefsteak in Los Angeles. For the first time ever, he’s taking the show on the road and teaming up with hospitality industry personality Billy Harris as emcee and Director of Culinary Operations & Executive Chef Anthony Endy at Alisal Ranch. The 10,500-acre luxury working cattle ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley’s Solvang, who was just recognized last year as a “Top 15 Resort in Southern California” by Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards, will be hosting a Beefsteak package experience March 23-25, 2022, inclusive of accommodations, in-room amenity, daily breakfast, dinner, and drinks, tickets to Beefsteak on March 24, as well as access to an exclusive dinner for Beefsteak package guests on March 23 ahead of the event. The March 24 Beefsteak dinner experience is open to the public, overnight guests, and Alisal Ranch signature club members via ticket purchase.

Hosted by Billy Harris—recognized for his comedic, energetic style and philanthropic efforts in the hospitality industry—the carnivorous carnival on March 24 will begin with passed hors d’oeuvres and a cocktail and wine reception at 5:30 p.m.—with partners including Frey Ranch Distillery, Mulholland Distillery, Saarloos + Sons, Stolpman Vineyards, Penville, Lumen Wines, Sea Smoke, Storm Wines, Andrew Murray Vineyards, Story of Soil, Four Brothers Wine, Crawford Family Wines, and Shaun Cassidy’s My First Crush—followed by a sit-down dinner at 7 p.m. with an unforgettable feast from Newport Meat Company.
