Chef Filippo was born and raised in Saturnia, a small seaside village in Tuscany, one of the most notorious wine regions in the world. He learned the value of each ingredient in his mother’s
kitchen and fell in love with gastronomy there at an early age. After later graduating successfully from Culinary School, Filippo worked for some of the best restaurants and Michelin starred chefs in the world, including at home in Northern and Southern Italy. In his 28 years of cooking experience, he continues to hone the utilization of every part of each element that could contribute to a dish. When he is away from his love of being in the kitchen, he spends the majority of his time with his wife Valeria and daughter Carolina.

Chef Filippo Piccini is the Executive Chef at Solare Ristorante Italiano Bar & Lounge in Liberty Station San Diego. Piccini was happy the “opportunity” came up in December. “You enter Solare and you feel like you’re in an Italian village with very comfortable surroundings. Tuscany was my home in Italy. I will be making some refinements to the menu that was developed so nicely by Chef Occursio.”
