Green Tomato Grill (GTG), Orange County’s fast and fresh food concept, has expanded with its second location in Brea; just opened December 2015. Executive Chef Kyle Markt aims to redefine the term “fast food” with a much healthier approach and a variety of gluten-free and vegan options. Everything in his kitchen is made-from-scratch, using locally-sourced produce and the meat is butchered in-house. Chef Kyle pulls inspiration from ethnic cuisines such as Mexican, Mediterranean, Asian and French cooking techniques.
“Our number one goal is to offer affordable food that makes you feel good. We are constantly challenging ourselves to provide healthier and tastier ways to break the fast food cycle. We’re not a health food store, but when you’re ready to graduate from fast food, we’ll be here for you,” Chef Kyle Markt explains.
The new Brea location will feature additions including: an espresso bar in partnership with KÃ©an Coffee, acai bowls in partnership with Acai Republic and a new gluten-free baking kitchen featuring the highly-anticipated egg pies. The second location will be 796 North Brea Blvd, Brea, CA 92821 on the corner of Brea Blvd. and State College Street.
Green Tomato Grill’s current signature items include:
MEDITERRANEAN CHICKEN BOWL: Marinated grilled chicken, sautÃ©ed with artichokes, bell peppers, black olives, onions, garbanzos and tomatoes. Served over brown rice and Mediterranean sauce.
BBQ PULLED PORK FLATBREAD: Braised Creekstone Farms pork, sautÃ©ed with shishito peppers, cabbage, onions and chipotle BBQ sauce. Served in a grilled flatbread with cheddar Jack cheese.
BLACKENED CALAMARI BURRITO: Grilled blackened calamari, grilled corn, Roma tomato salsa, fresh avocado and cilantro lime rice. Served in a chipotle tortilla with chili verde and habanero fire sauce.
SOUTHWEST STEAK SALAD: Marinated grilled steak, black beans, carrots, corn, cilantro, jicama, bell peppers, tomatoes, cheddar jack cheese and mixed greens, tossed with agave lime vinaigrette.
BBQ CRISPY TOFU BOWL: Crispy lemongrass tofu sautÃ©ed with black beans, corn, cabbage, jicama, Roma tomatoes and topped with fresh avocado. Served over brown rice with chipotle BBQ sauce.
Since opening its first location in Orange in 2012 (1419 N. Tustin St.), Green Tomato Grill has listened closely to its loyal customers and expanded the menu to accommodate all dietary needs. GTG also prides itself on its sustainability program, which includes low waste culinary practices, recycling, organic cleaning supplies, biodegradable sugar fiber paper goods and corn plastic cups. GTG works with the local produce providers to bring in as much organic produce as possible and Chef Kyle personally sources their beef and poultry from the Southwest region to minimize their carbon footprint.
