The eagle has officially landed in San Diego, in the form of nationally revered Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse. Having opened doors this past Saturday, November 3rd, the 16,655-square-foot, two-story, indoor-outdoor luxury steakhouse sits at the intersection of Broadway and Pacific Highway anchoring the new InterContinental San Diego. As a cornerstone of the BRIC mixed-use development, Del Frisco’s overlooks Lane Field, the waterfront park that was the original home of the Pacific Coast League Padres. To commemorate the first West Coast expansion of the brand, Del Frisco’s held a ceremonial first pitch with former Padres Hall of Fame pitcher Randy Jones and a red-carpet benefit for Padres Pedal the Cause (501c3), which raised nearly $10,000, prior to the public opening.

PRISTINE PERSONALIZED SERVICE | Del Frisco’s has rightfully earned its stellar reputation for service, specializing in unique customer experiences that begin and end with excellence. Leading the San Diego staff in providing seamless execution at each stage of the dining experience is General Manager Michael ManoocheriCombining his East Coast training from the Culinary Institute of America (Hyde Park, NY) and Cornell University with his West Coast luxury hospitality experience, Manoocheri upholds Del Frisco’s high standards of service. The brand’s commitment to traditional hand service, a signature touchpoint of the brand, is noticeable throughout the dining room as swarms of staff deliver courses and clear tables in unison.

THE CHEF + A SUPERIOR CULINARY PROGRAM | Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse is known for its intensive dry aging program and vast selection of hand-cut USDA Prime, sourced exclusively from premier purveyors throughout the U.S. At the helm of Del Frisco’s culinary program is Executive Chef Brian Christman. A San Diego transplant by way of New York City, Chef Christman has amassed a wealth of experience in fine dining institutions around the country including Mastro’s, Smith & Wollensky and Brett Favre’s Steakhouse. In 2014, he joined the team at Del Frisco’s to lead the flagship New York City outpost, which has earned the reputation of being one of the highest volume steakhouses in the world.

At Del Frisco’s in San Diego, Chef Christman employs his 20+ years of fine dining experience to harness unique flavors and elevate the rich tradition of the classic American steakhouse. Steaks are simply seasoned with salt and pepper and meticulously cooked to order, with offerings ranging from a delicate 8-ounce filet mignon to a hearty 24-ounce prime porterhouse. Guests may indulge in the signature entrée, The Double Eagle—a 32-ounce, 45-day, dry-aged double bone prime ribeye, which is carved tableside—or a sample a trio of Wagyu cuts from Japan, Australia and Texas. Classic steakhouse sides are served family-style, including creamed spinach and potatoes au gratin, or splurge with lobster macaroni and cheese and other decadent side dishes. Not to be overlooked are the seafood offerings featuring the freshest of catch from the Pacific and Atlantic: Alaskan King crab legs, jumbo shrimp, oysters on the half shell and the famous Del’s Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes finished with a Cajun-lobster cream sauce.

THE SOMM + A WORLD CLASS WINE PROGRAM | With nods from Bloomberg PursuitsNew York Times and more, each Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse location takes pride in curating an impeccable wine list to accompany a quality meal. San Diego’s Wine Director Faith Fulginiti perfected her palate at Del Frisco’s New York City flagship while assisting with an $8 million wine program that earned the coveted Wine Spectator Grand Award in 2017. A Certified Sommelier, Fulginiti stocks the San Diego location’s cellars with more than 1,400 varietals—amassing over 10,000 bottles, both old world and new world, including selections from the neighboring regions of Valle de Guadalupe, Temecula, Sonoma and beyond. The cocktail menu features steakhouse classics and sophisticated spirits. Sippers include a Del Frisco’s staple, The VIP, a pineapple-infused SVEDKA Clementine martini, and an Añejo Old Fashioned stirred with Don Julio tequila, Amaro Montenegro, Monin cinnamon, cardamom and orange bitters. Eight craft and imported beers are available on tap as well.

TWO-STORY BAYSIDE DESIGN STUNNER | A nod to coastal elegance, Aria Group Architects, Inc. designed the waterfront restaurant with a luxury yacht in mind. A color palette of navy blue, teal and corals contrast with heavy textures and lush materials, such as ship lap leather-wrapped columns, white tile accents and warm wood paneling throughout. From top to bottom, intricate carpet and flooring patterns, alongside crystal chain-linked chandeliers, emulate the movement of ocean waves to create a synergetic energy between the structural space and the neighboring bay. In another ode to the ocean, multiple crystal droplets in the shape of water form an art installation and the focal point in the main dining room. A showstopper upon entrance is a staircase of Italian marble steps and glass walls, which house more than 7,000 bottles of temperature-controlled wine, creating a functional, contemporary wine display visible from nearly every seat in the restaurant.

PRIVATE DINING + EVENTS POWERHOUSE | The restaurant includes five versatile private dining rooms, fully equipped with audio visual capabilities, that can seat 12 to 75 guests and are suitable for private gatherings, formal business presentations and corporate events. With a commitment to personalized service for every group, the Del Frisco’s team offers a variety of menus, price points, presentation styles and attention to detail.
