Chef Misty Phelps has captivated the palates of Napa Valley’s A-List set with her wine country comfort food. “People don’t want haute cuisine all the time,” says the chef who runs Getting Fresh with Misty – the personal chef business she launched 8 years ago in Napa. Chef Misty’s comfort cuisine has dazzled the palates of notables such as Judy Webb, Kate Spade, Will Ferrell, Morgan Freeman, Fred Spector, Drew Barrymore, and Steven Bochco. Regular wine clients include Colgin Cellars, Frogs Leap, Forman Vineyard, Delicato Family Vineyard and the cult wine Tusk Estate, to name a few.
Inspired by her Texan roots along with fresh seasonal ingredients, and a mantra of having “enough to eat for those intoxicated by the wine country air,” Chef Misty tunes each menu to the tastes of her clients, stating, “each menu has a personal touch,and none are cookie cutter.” Misty pairs wines from her clients wine collections or the wineries she works with. “Im lucky to have amazing wine at my fingertips” she says. A recent menu for Judy Webb included Seared Scallops and White Truffle Yukon Golds with a 2004 Forman Chardonnay; Prime Rib and Misty’s famous Baked Cheddar Grits with 1966 Hospices de Nuits Burgundy Cuvee des Sires de Vergy Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru; Croissant Bread Pudding with Apricot Glaze and Cardamom Ice Cream along with Dolce wine for dessert.
