College Rank, a website dedicated to evaluating and ranking college programs and experiences, has released a list of the Top 20 Culinary Schools.

A successful and fulfilling career in the food industry can be a challenge. The world of food is constantly evolving and demanding hours make a career in culinary not for the faint of heart. But these 20 schools are turning aspiring cooks into culinary royalty.

Our team has worked to research and evaluate these 20 rigorous culinary programs around the country.  While these programs are developing our next chefs, they are also focusing on pastry design and creation, culinary management and expansion as well as farm-to-table process development. “Culinary Schools, while sometimes expensive, are fundamentally important for young cooks. Attending a great school with excellent restaurants gives students an opportunity to learn the basics and techniques of cooking while also gaining perspective of actual working cooks and chefs,” says Monica Dennis from the College Rank team. “In addition to chefs, culinary schools are training the next generation of restaurant entrepreneurs. The skills you learn on the business side of managing a restaurant are skills that will impact the way you run your own kitchen for years to come.”

While compiling this list, we took into account graduation rates, class sizes, and professional direction. Another factor included in our list was the hands-on experience available to students. Several of the institutions run Michelin recommended restaurants so that students can gain real-life experience while training to complete their degrees.
