Executive Chef Kyle Markt aims to redefine the term “fast food” with a much healthier approach and a variety of gluten-free and vegan options at Brea’s upcoming Green Tomato Grill location. Everything in his kitchen is made-from-scratch, using locally-sourced produce and the meat is butchered in-house. Chef Kyle pulls inspiration from ethnic cuisines such as Mexican, Mediterranean, Asian and French cooking techniques. 08/11/15

Chef Frederic Castan appointed Executive Chef of Hilton Anaheim. The seasoned, French-born chef with more than 30 years of culinary experience joins the Hilton family in Southern California after serving as executive chef at St. Regis Resort Monarch Beach for nine years. His appointment begins immediately, according to Shaun Robinson, general manager, Hilton Anaheim. 08/07/15

Chef David Fune has been appointed as an Executive Chef of Balboa Bay Club, the legendary waterfront club. Both Chef Fune and Balboa Bay Club is excited for this change due to Chef Fune’s creativity and passion in producing an exciting experience. 07/21/15

Chef Eric Semaniego and the Little Sparrow have parted ways. Samaniego, whose wife is expecting their third child in a few weeks, says of the change, I’m looking forward to spending time with my family. Little Sparrow will always have a special place in my heart. Chef Melissa Ortiz will be stepping up to run the Little Sparrow kitchen temporarily. 07/09/15

Chef Michael Campbell, former Executive Sous Chef at San Francisco’s highly-acclaimed RN74, has joined Pueblo. He will combine novel techniques with deliciously familiar Spanish dishes, served in a warm and contemporary atmosphere. Campbell will take the helm, curating Pueblo’s menu with classic Spanish-style dishes using locally sourced meats and produce. Madrid-based Chef Mario Valles, formerly of 3-Michelin star restaurant Le Cinq, will serve as Menu Consultant. 08/13/2014

Chef Paul Shoemaker joins Firefly in Studio City. Shoemaker’s dynamic pedigree stems from the kitchens of Water Grill, along with Michelin-starred Bastide, French Laundry, Alain Ducasse, and Providence, all which shaped his current culinary philosophy. By honoring the longtime traditions of local farmers, ranchers, purveyors, and fishermen, the essence of California’s agriculture and resources are tasted throughout Firefly’s new menu. 08/12/2014

Juan Carlos Murillo is the Executive Chef at Del Friscoe’s Grille in the Irvine Spectrum. He has worked his way up through the ranks becoming head chef at several well-known restaurants, including Gulfstream, Bandera and Nick’s in Laguna Beach. In 2005, he made the pilgrimage to Memphis, Tennessee, accepting a position as executive chef in one of the city’s landmark restaurants. 08/08/2014

Chef John Cuevas is now at Waterman’s in Dana Point. Growing up in the restaurant business, Chef John Cuevas has been creating dishes – which have received rave reviews from critics, patrons and foodies alike – for most of his life. Cuevas brings experience from Forbes 5 Star kitchens and has been nominated by the James Beard Association for Best Chef – Pacific. Jason Mazur, formerly executive chef of French 75 in Irvine and Mariposa at Neiman-Marcus, is the new executive chef of the Bluewater Grill and Bluewater Avalon family of restaurants. Chef Mazur continues the culinary legacy begun by Bluewater founding executive chef Brian Hirsty, who passed away earlier this year. 08/1/2014

Veteran Chef Bruno Massuger, a French native who has served as director of culinary operations for a number of exclusive private clubs, has been appointed executive chef of the Back Bay Bistro at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort. In addition to overseeing the 199-seat restaurant, he will be responsible for the Dunes’ bustling catering division, which serves a diverse array of clients from massive events for Fortune 500 companies to wedding receptions. 07/14/2014

The creators of Addison at The Grand Del Mar are set to open a new French bistro concept this week at the former site of Amaya La Jolla. Bijou French Bistro opened Friday, June 27, with Addison’s Executive Chef William Bradley serving as culinary director and Addison’s former sous chef Shaun Gethin helming Bijou’s kitchen as chef de cuisine. 06/30/2014

Silver Trumpet Restaurant and Bar, located at the Avenue of the Arts Wyndham Hotel, is pleased to announce the appointment of its new executive head chef, Eddie Garcia. Chef Jason Pena has departed Specialty Restaurant Group and has taken the reigns at Waterfalls at the Atrium Hotel.
Chef Thomas Ryan has relocated. He resigned his position with Pelican Grill and has taken over the helm at Big Canyon Country Club.
Yves Fournier is anxiously awaiting the opening of Andrei’s in the City of Irvine. Chef has been with Hyatt Hotels for quite some time; First in Irvine at 6ix Park Grill and then as Executive Sous at the Hyatt Newport Beach.
Chef Joseph Gotti previously of Patina’s Naples at Downtown Disney has taken over the kitchen at Da Vinci in Long Beach. We can’t wait to sample the new menu this month.
