Water Grill will open its first location in Orange County this fall at the landmark corner of Anton Blvd. and Bristol St., across from South Coasts Plaza. The 17,500-square-foot restaurant (with an additional 2,000-square-foot patio) is the brainchild of Sam King who launched the oyster revolution in Southern California 30 years ago with King’s Seafood Company. South Coast interior in Costa Mesa will take inspiration from a refurbished ship with rustic woods, nautical accents and a central copper bar top, opened its first location in 1989 in downtown Los Angeles. The impressive design includes an exhibition kitchen and seawater tanks that will display an assortment of live shellfish. The menu will feature an extensive selection of seasonal, fresh seafood and prime meats.
