The Penalty Box, a very casual gourmet walk-up burger joint owned by NHL Hockey Hall of Famer Teemu Selanne and business partner Kevin Pratt, will open at SteelCraft Garden Grove. SteelCraft, Orange County’s first repurposed shipping container center, had its groundbreaking on Monday, March 5, with the food hall slated to open fall 2018.
The Penalty Box will feature creative burgers (pucks), hot dogs (sticks) and fries (twigs) as well as draft and bottled sodas, shakes and some secret menu items. The eatery’s burger concept is inspired by the popularity of Selanne Steak Tavern’s Flash Burger. All burgers or pucks at The Penalty Box will be made with a special customized blend of short rib, sirloin and Wagyu beef and be served on Selanne’s artisan Yukon Gold potato bun. Fresh-cut fries from Yukon Gold potatoes are on the menu along with all premium beef hot dogs and shakes created with housemade ice cream.
The Penalty Box is among the carefully selected craft food and drink vendors curated by SteelCraft. SteelCraft’s mission is to provide hospitality at outdoor community tables in a family- and dog-friendly environment.
