Moulin will open its second location in the heart of Laguna Beach in September 2016. The new location on Forest Avenue (248 Forest Ave, Laguna Beach, CA 92651) will open where Scandia Bakery once stood. Laurent Vrignaud’s new location will offer a similar authentic French experience to his flagship store in Newport Beach, which opened in September 2014, but will be tailored to fit the Laguna Beach lifestyle.
“Laguna Beach has a special place in my heart. Its unique, relaxed vibe reminds me of the seaside communities across France,” explains Laurent, who moved to Laguna Beach with his family in 2002. “In Laguna Beach, everyone walks about town, just as they do in the villages of France. For this reason, it has been my dream to recreate the cafe culture of coastal France here in Laguna Beach.”
In the mornings, guests will enjoy coffee and espresso beverages complemented with classic pâtisserie and boulang erie items as well as made-to-order crepes and waffles. Fresh baked breads and classic viennoiserie will be available in the early mornings and continuously baked fresh throughout the day.
In the afternoons and evenings, Moulin will serve its slow-cooked rotisserie chicken. A large window into the kitchen will showcase rotisserie chicken turning on specialty ovens imported from France. Guests can enjoy a glass of French wine or beer complemented with cheese and charcuterie. Exclusive to the new Laguna Beach location will be a selection of hand-crafted ice cream elegantly served in a traditional coupe glaceé.
“Catering to the Laguna Beach lifestyle, Moulin will wake up and go to sleep with the city,” added Laurent. “Moulin Laguna Beach is a place designed by locals, for the locals.”
Laurent expects to break ground in few weeks. A full demolition and renovation on the space will result in new additions including a front patio, stand-alone coffee bar, and exhibition window into the kitchen. Much like its flagship location in Newport Beach, the new Laguna Beach location will offer a French experience for all the senses.
Moulin will feature vintage furnishings and décor such as bistro tables and chairs, original metal plaques, light fixtures, and framed French art – all collected by Laurent from France. The sounds of French music and French-speaking guests will fill the air along with the scent of fresh-baked breads.
Totaling 1600 sq. ft., the new location sits at the heart of Laguna Beach’s popular Forest Ave and will offer indoor and patio seating. Within walking distance to Main Beach, much of Moulin’s menu will be available to-go, much like many cafes in cities along coastal France.
Moulin Laguna Beach is located at 248 Forest Ave, Laguna Beach, CA 92651 and will be open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. For more information, please visit: www.moulinbistro.com
