AMERICAN GRILL-MEETS-SUSHI: KONA GRILL TO OPEN ITS FIRST CALIFORNIA LOCATION AT IRVINE SPECTRUM CENTER
Kona Grill, a fast-growing American grill concept, is set to open its first California location at Irvine Spectrum Center in 2016. Offering scratch-made American food with a modern spin, Kona Grill will also feature award-winning sushi with fresh seafood flown in daily, as well as steaks, crafted cocktails and seasonal menus.
“Our restaurant collection is about as diverse as it gets and we’re looking forward to providing another great dining option here at Irvine Spectrum Center,” said Stacie Ellis, senior marketing director for Irvine Company Retail Properties. “Kona Grill will serve contemporary American cuisine with an impressive selection of sushi.”
Signature dishes include: Macadamia Nut Chicken with a pineapple-papaya marmalade, Miso-Sake Sea Bass and a passion fruit creme brulee. On the sushi side, there’s Salmon Wasabi Sashimi, with fresh wasabi root, pickled onions, cucumber salad with a yuzu ponzu, along with specialty rolls such as the Checkerboard Roll, with tuna, habanero tuna mix, yellowtail, avocado, asparagus and spicy motoyaki sauce.
The restaurant will include a large patio dining space, a custom-designed aquarium and an expansive bar. Kona Grill will be located across from Yard House.
