With the memories of her childhood in the South, of bakeries and candy shops, Chef Rachel and her family came up with the concept for the Camp space. It is the place where families can come and enjoy delicious cookies, buttercream cakes, pastries and ‘sassy tarts. Chef Rachel expanded her scratch-made line of pastries to include retro breads and rolls. At the new bakery, the Blackmarketeers sell coffee and espresso, rustic desserts, tarts, shortbreads, confections, nostalgic sandwiches and two- and three-tiered ‘decorate it yourself cakes. It is a retro-tisnal bakery – paying homage to, yet reinventing, the archetype of “bakery”. The goal at The Camp mirrors her original passion, to create a conscious moment of indulgence for anyone who dares partake.
