Sonoma County Wine Pioneers Series: Biodynamic Wines – Dry Creek Kitchen, Healdsburg

October 16, 2010
3:30 pm

Join us on Saturday afternoons for the Sonoma County Wine Pioneers Series. Each segment in the Series consists of an interactive seminar and wine tasting where you will be able to taste listen to winemakers speak about various topics of interest. These seminars will be educational, fun and approachable to the novice wine lover but also engaging to the more advanced wine taster. Most importantly, they will not only give the guest an opportunity to speak to legendary Sonoma County winemakers but also discover up and coming stars.
Biodynamic farming’s began about 90 years ago in response to the degradation of European farms due to the rampant use of chemicals employed in the early 20th century. The soils were literally sick and depleted and the quality and health of agricultural products were significantly affected. Over the past 10 years, many prominent wineries from around the world have adopted this organic farming system that treats a farm as a self-sustaining system that maintains its health without any external or unnatural conditions. Join Chris Benziger, Alex Davis, and Hugh Chappelle – winemakers from 3 of Sonoma County’s Biodynamic wineries – as they explain this progressive farming philosophy.
The seminar package includes admission to the tasting plus a 3-course prix fixe dinner at Dry Creek Kitchen. *Seminar wines may be purchased for dinner at retail price.

Benziger – Chris Benziger
Porter Creek Vineyards – Alex Davis
Quivira Vineyards and Winery – Steven Canter
