Established in 1957, Antonio’s Pizzeria is Frequented by Celebrities and Counts
Thousands among their Loyal Customers
Antonio’s Pizzeria, one of the San Fernando Valley’s oldest and most popular restaurant, will celebrate 61 years of secret family recipes and thousands of guests served since it opened in 1957. Plans are underway for a grand 60 year celebration in August of 2017 which will include an entire weekend full of special events, celebrity sightings, secret family recipes on the menu for a limited time and giving back to the community.
Antonio’s is one of the few non-franchised, family style restaurants still around. The restaurant serves large family style portions that are made from scratch with recipes that have gone through over 3 generations of cooks. The restaurant has survived every turn of the latest food trends and has established itself as dependable, fresh and exceptional in taste. From homemade Lasagna to Chicken Cacciatore, you can usually find owner Steve Lunardon in the kitchen overseeing every step of the cooking process or mixing only the freshest of ingredients in anticipation of serving yet another meal with ultimate perfection.
Antonio’s is known for serving World Class Italian Cuisine with a twist of history. Every meal served includes decades old, mouth-watering recipes that are shared only with the closest of family members.
The restaurant, which has been owned for over two decades by brother and sister team Alex and Steven Lunardon, has become more than just a place to order food. It’s where the loyal community of Sherman Oaks, and guests from across Southern California, New York, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, Ohio, and across the United States come to eat as if they were at their grandmother’s house. It continues to draw a crowd of celebrities and industry VIPS dressed down in baseball caps and jeans who have tired of the nouveau cuisine. The family-filled casual atmosphere provides an easy place for celebrities like Adam Sandler, Gwen Stefani, David Spade, Danny Mcbride, Jenny Garth, David Grohl, Monica Potter, Fred Willard and so many more to eat in a family-like atmosphere and no influence by the paparazzi.
Antonio’s prides itself on giving guests mouth-watering Italian recipes handed down from the great grandparents and prepared with the same ingredients from 60 years ago. Those recipes make up some of Antonio’s most popular menu items including Fettucino a la Antonio, Pasta Rossa, Spaghetti Siciliano and Caruso, Ravioli, Bruschetta, They are famous for their unforgettable homemade meatballs and often referred to as being “Famous for Pizza.” The Antonio’s Special pizza is the most popular and again, is made with secret family recipes only a close group of chefs and family members know.
Steve and Alex Lunardon, brother and sister, has made it their mission to conserve and celebrate the rich family heritage of its founder Antonio Micelli. While Steve is in the kitchen supervising the cooking staff and preparing food, one can find Alex our front on the floor dedicated to making sure each and every customer is having the perfect “Italian” experience.
“We take great pride in being authentic and dedicated to the rich traditions and incredible heritage of when Antonio’s first opened 60 years ago (then called Micelli’s)” said Alex Lunardon. “When we see the happy faces of our many customers delight in the atmosphere, the food and the experience it makes us just as happy. We plan on celebrating this great history for many years to come.”
Although many of the plans for the 60th Anniversary weekend have not been officially announced as of this date, Antonio’s promises a weekend of special menu items, anniversary events, exclusive restaurant packages and giving back to the community. Antonio’s famous salad dressing will also be bottled for the 60th Anniversary and sold exclusively at the restaurant, a first for the establishment after hundreds of requests.
